Product Description
Farmer's markets are multiplying across the country, and their stalls are bursting with locally grown produce, artisanal breads and cheeses and naturally raised meats. As America's desire for local, natural ingredients continues to grow, Ivy Manning offers this spectacular collection of recipes, including special dishes from some of the most touted Northwest chefs and restaurants—Tilth, Wildwood, and Crush, among others—that have made their marks using the freshest local ingredients. Organized by season, this cookbook invites the home cook to sample and explore to prepare such dishes as Fresh Pea and Pancetta Risotto, Seared Scallops with Creamed Ramps and Black Truffle, and Blackberry Hazelnut Crisp. Wherever your market is found, declare your allegiance to the localtarian movement! With full- color photographs and more than 100 recipes, think globally but eat locally with this attractive, sophisticated, and satisfying cookbook.

Great for vegetarians October 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have seldom just read a cookbook - but I have done so with this one. Lots of interesting background and tips on buying and cooking. Since I am vegetarian, I especially liked the many recipes using local veggies. Great book; I am buying more for gifts.
Wonderful recipes and great local showcase! August 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is such a wonderful book! My husband and I have attended some of Chef Ivy's cooking classes in the past and her recipes always turn out so well. The book really expresses that same style she has in her classes, with great tips and beautiful recipes. She also does a great job showcasing other local chefs and demystifying ingredients you might find in a farmer's market that you might not have known how to prepare. Love the grilled vegetable gallete and the shortcake recipes, easy and delicious.
