Product Description Does the smell of sawdust seduce you? Do you enjoy going to the "tool and drool" store? This isn't one of the thousands of how-to books out there for amateur woodworkers. But if you love woodworking because you long to create something that outlives you, then this devotional is the book for you. Think of it as an opportunity to become an apprentice in life to Jesus, the Master Carpenter. He wants to come into the shop of your heart, give you a little correction here and there, and inspire you to do what you already know to do.

Great Devotions around a theme of woodworking tools December 23, 2008 A great paperback collection of truly insightful devotions on biblical truths with meaningful comparisons to woodworking tools and techniques. An added bonus is a touch of his humor and a good story teller in his illustrations.
A solid choice for any Christian who takes after the craft of Jesus Christ November 9, 2008 Whenever anyone creates anything by hand, heart and soul are poured into their creation. "The Master Carpenter: Devotions for Woodworkers" is a look at the spiritual side of wood working, containing much spiritual information to inspire readers to put their souls into what they craft. Combining the wisdom of Christianity with the meditation of woodworking, "The Master Carpenter" is a solid choice for any Christian who takes after the craft of Jesus Christ.
A perfect read...a perfect gift September 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Most of the ones who play with wood and power tools are better than the character Tim Allen plays on TV's "Tool Time," but are nowhere good enough to be considered a Master Carpenter. After all, the workbenches are crowded with screws that don't fit any projects, tools are resting haphazardly, ready to fall off the work table if it's bumped. And woodworking magazines are open to plans of your dream project, mocking your best intentions.
Most of us want to make a difference in the world, to create something that says "I was here." For some, it is knitting tiny baby booties to be worn by the next generation. For some, it's writing the next best seller. And for others, the stacks of lumber call them, begging them to create something timeless. That coffee table your wife wants. A new sled for your children for the coming winter. A picnic table for your back yard. Or whatever the project is.
Before you reach for your power saw, reach for The Master Carpenter: Devotions for Woodworkers, and as you enjoy your first cup of morning coffee, spend a few minutes with God. Each devotion starts with scripture, then tells a timely woodworking story, and then goes into a prayer time, where we, as God's apprentice, focus on what needs improving in our lives.
Even though I am not a woodworker, I thoroughly enjoyed reading through The Master Carpenter: Devotions for Woodworkers, and plan to hand my copy of this book to my husband whose workshop meets the description I shared above. The devotions give any reader something to think about, something to pray about, and something to consider for the rest of the day.
Armchair Interviews says: Don't miss The Master Carpenter: Devotions for Woodworkers. Perfect for gift giving.
