Denis Leary snarls as naturally as most actors smile, says one critic of the writer and comic. In Why We Suck, Leary snarls to brilliant effect. With his patented highspeed ranting and killer comic instinct, Denis Leary has become a beloved antihero whose bracing invective and outrageous riffs have earned him a huge following.

1 out of 5 stars Are you kidding me? Humor? NOT!   January 7, 2009

What??? (12 years in the Army would have me saying something else here, were it not a public forum...)

According to Mr. Leary, children with autism "are not autistic, just stupid. Or lazy. Or both." Excuse me?

Another mother put it best:
"If Mr. Leary had ever been in the presence of an autistic child, he would CLEARLY see that it has nothing to do with laziness or stupidity. Often these children are smart and active. They just have no skills for channeling and focusing that intelligence or energy into so-called "normal" social behaviors. Trying to stir up controversy to sell a book is pretty sad. Why don't you just write a better book that people will actually want to read? Or are you too stupid and lazy for that?"

I concur. Denis Leary is not only NOT funny, he has no soul.
With SO many other GOOD books to buy...why would anyone waste money on this trash!?!?

5 out of 5 stars great read   January 6, 2009
Written by DR.Denis Leary, this book delivers also. It's funny, sarcastic, clever, and brings back memories of one's own youth. Must be all Catholic families are the same no matter where you grow up! Some truths never change. Keep up the good work, DR. Leary.

5 out of 5 stars Book Purchase   January 6, 2009
Book arrived quickly and just as described. Was a gift for my son and he LOVED it.

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious!   January 5, 2009
Unfortunately, the people who SHOULD read this book WON'T, because they'd get "offended".

It is 100% truthful and hyserically told. I love it.

2 out of 5 stars Only Moderately Entertaining   January 5, 2009
I desperately wanted to enjoy this book, but after about 100 pages, I had to quit reading. Something I never do. If you're a fan of Dennis Leary, you'll absolutely enjoy this read. His unique wit and sarcasm are what makes this book what it is. If you're easily offended (and I am not) you might want to look elsewhere. I will admit, that although I did not find much of the content humorous, Dr. Leary's points are fairly accurate! A lot of the reason we as Americans "suck" as he puts it, are outlined very clearly throughout the book.

Give it a shot if you're looking to be entertained, but don't expect much in my opinion.
