Product Description
Imagine savoring the taste of your own homegrown tomato, fresh from the vine, in February! How about harvesting fresh organic salad greens year-round, or stepping into a blossom-laden tropical paradise on the coldest of winter days? Today, greenhouses and sunrooms are real living spaces where gardeners spend as much time with a book and a cup of coffee as they do with a watering can and a pair of pruning shoes. In this fully revised edition of a best-selling classic, veteran gardener Shane Smith embraces this new lifestyle approach to greenhouse gardening.

5 out of 5 stars Shane Smith Greenhouse Gardeners Companion   December 3, 2008
This is a no-nonsense, common sense book, written in plain language so is easy to understand. I'm a seasoned gardener, but beginning greenhouse gardener, and they seem to be quite different. Some books, after you read them, make you just want to give up before you even start, but this one makes you think you can do it! It's still too early for me to know how successful I'll be, but I've got lettuce seedlings, and, it is December, we'll see if I have salad greens in a few more weeks.

4 out of 5 stars the "Bible"   September 8, 2008
Very good book, very comprehensive, great for beginners (like me). There is a ton of information in here.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference   July 17, 2008
I just purchased my first greenhouse and wanted a good reference book. This is it! An excellent resource which is easy to read and use. Love it!

5 out of 5 stars Great book   May 4, 2008
This book is a weath of information - well written and a joy to read. I have visited the solar greenhouse at the Cheyenne WY Botanic Gardens. It was great to see the information from the book in actual use. Now if only I had a greenhouse!

4 out of 5 stars greenhouse companion manual   April 20, 2008
While this book is useful, I found it a little to general. I expected more detailed guidelines. Also, not as many illustrations and diagrams as I would like.
