Great book January 23, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book's definitely a keeper. Bill, in his self-deprecating & exaggerated humour, makes this an entertaining read. Also, he decorates all the various locations he visits with intriguing historical information (that I love) & he gives enough detail for this to be a a guide book (to some degree, I reckon).
Who knew a travel book could be so fun? September 29, 2005 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Bryson combines a compelling case for a trip to Australia with a terrific sense of humor. Who else could make the driest, most remote, and deadliest country in the world a must for any traveler. I couldn't put this down.
