All you wanted to ask...but were afraid to May 9, 2003 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have always been curious about what goes on down there. This book answered it all and then some. From what to pack and how much it will cost to where to even walk, Chris knows Hedo II well. And why shouldn't she...she has been there over 30 times. She even tells you which rooms (by number) to get and which to avoid! Chris has striven for objectivity and it does show though. However, her personal like of the place also comes through loud and clear. I am not sure people on the fence like me will be convined to jump up and book a passage to HedoII but that exactly is what I would expect an informative book to be about and this fills the bill very well. People already on the way there should be helped in avoiding pitfalls and making their time more enjoyable - and that is the moral of the book - leave your inhibitions and clothes behind and come and party.
Hilarious and helpful March 26, 2003 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is a MUST Read for anyone even contemplating a visit to Hedo. It's filled with useful tips for first-timers and I'll be re-reading it before my next trip. You'll be laughing out loud and getting totally psyched for your trip...and when you get back, it's highly likely you'll write to Chris with a true story of your own...even though no one who hasn't been there will believe it. But those of us who've been there will !
Hedonism and the Naked Truth February 6, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I found this book to be exactly the information I was looking for. I had read and seen Hedonism listed before but had absolutely no idea what or where it was. This book gave me that information with a very fun perspective. The knowledge that you obtain will help anyone that wants to go there for any reason. It gives you the best times of year to go depending on what your looking for. It gives you details that you would never think about before you got there. For the unexperienced guest of Hedo you have to read this.
Honest/Funny look at Hedo ll January 31, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is an honest and hilarious look at the Hedonism II resort in Jamaica. I've done Club Med and was wondering what Hedo would be like. This gave me all the info I could possibly need, maybe more. I still don't know if I'll ever go, though the no-additional-charge Scuba diving is a big draw for me. Also don't know if getting nekkid is for me either, but this seems like a good place to go if you'd like to find out. Chris gives an insider's eye view of the resort, warts and all, that can't be found anywhere else. Her sharp sense of humor and adept observations make you feel as if you were right there with her. Thanks, Chris, it was a great read.
Make the most of your vacation January 20, 2003 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
If you are going to Hedo for the first time then this book is not an option, it is just a plain necessity. There is information here that you will not get anywhere else. It tells you that you need to bring safety pins to hold your toga in place. Who would have thought that you'll have a CD player in each room but maybe not an alarm clock? My wife learned that she is going to have to bring toenail polish because the sand on the beach will wear it off (uhhh yeah, that sounds right). There's lots of that kind of advice. The book is filled with wonderful advice. There are also the pithy stories. It tells you what it's really like, without the hype. You learn that it's not the decadent snake pit that a lot of people make it out to be. I imagine that if you've been to Hedo you will find this book a mirthfull book of memories. The books is well written. It is worth every penny.
