Essential reading for visitors to the "BIG APPLE" April 13, 1999 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I borrowed a copy of this book in 1994 when i visited NYC for the first time in about 35 years. Flying in on the plane from Dallas, I formed an itinerary , decided where to eat, sleep and be entertained, and it worked perfectly. Last year - 1998 - i visited again, but couldn't find the book for "love nor money" in the UK - then I discovered Amazon.com and had it mailed in within days.... Once again i was delighted by the book,( and the ones on L.A. London, and Paris too by the way). It is absolutely ideal for finding your way round a new city -ENJOY! ( THE END ) ( can I have my cheque now please Mr Editor,.....)
Acces guides are simply the best guides book money can buy. December 12, 1998 I own several guide books about different cities in North America. Because of the color coded set up, you'll find in access guides, one can find information extrenly fast. it's an extremly handy guide, even if you happen to know a city. Don't buy any other guide book.
Best book on NYC there is! November 1, 1998 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm sure there might be a couple of books that come close to this one, but I doubt it. The format is so easy to follow (all the stuff is color coded type through the book by restaurant, hotel, etc..) that all you need is a highlighter pen and your airline ticket. Travelers who enjoy the non-touristy things will enjoy this book because there is a ton of info on things outside the norm, and info on the sublime, such as a block of row houses that should be seen. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!
the most user-friendly guidebook to the Big Apple! May 15, 1998 I have used every edition of this book on my many visits to New York City. Organizing a city guidebook geographically makes so much sense, whether someone is visiting for the first time or the 50th time. I also like the general tone of the writing--if the hotel or restaurant has a problem, the reader can find out without too much difficulty. And finally, I like the input from various New York celebrities--one can tell how much they love New York!
